David Crowther Art Teacher
20/04/2021
David Crowther, head of Art at TC from about 1970 to 1997, sadly passed away recently after a long illness.
David was well loved as evidenced by the comments on our Facebook group. It is very touching that even in these challenging Covid times there were 5 old boys at David's funeral.
Geoffrey Pugh
23/11/2020
Geoffrey Cecil Kipling Pugh was at Tettenhall College during the war and left the school in 1945.
Geoffrey died on 10 November 2020 aged 93 years old, just five weeks after his wife of 55 years, Wendy, had died.
Much of their 55 year married life was spent at Tirley Garth, the Moral Re-Armament (MRA) Conference Centre in Cheshire. This was a Christan charity for which Geoffrey volunteered and worked unstintingly throughout his life.

Sadly we have also said goodbye to a few other OTs this year.

Edward Barnshaw (TC 1985-1990) suffered a tragic accident and passed away at the end of July this year.

Rez Samii (TC1977 - 1983) passed away in April. Rez suffered with MS over a number of years and had become very frail and sadly we are led to believe that Coronavirus finally took hold and he passed away overnight.

We also learnt recently about the passing of David Guest (TC 1947-1952).
John Baker
21/09/2020
John Baker was at TC from 1934-1943. His family were well known in the town, with a large shoe making factory and retail shops in the Midlands. He sadly died in April this year.
John was born in Wolverhampton on May 25th 1926, the only child of Douglas and Violet. He was educated here at Tettenhall College and then read Natural Sciences at Queen,s College, Cambridge. He undertook his National service in the Royal Navy and spent most of his time in Malta involved in weather forecasting.
Bill Snelson
21/09/2020
Sadly Bill Snelson passed away November 2019.
Bill Snelson was born on Friday 14th April 1933 at Whittimere Farm,
ln 1942 he was sent to boarding school at Tettenhall College after having been
found once too often re-arranging the men's work instructions from his Father, who would be at a council meeting at Stafford for the day!
After the initial shock, he soon settled down and as he proved many times later in life, made the very most of it.
He left in 1949 into a country in the grip of post war.
He was in his element on the farm and quickly began to learn anything and everything.
In the words of another OT
"I first met Bill Snelson through membership of the old Tettenhallians Club. He was some 15 years my senior, but that made no difference what so ever. Bill had a warmth and humanity that bridged any generational gap. BIade - straight and steel true, he did not stand on ceremony. He offered the hand of friendship and had a transparent sincerity. Bill was a good man,a thoroughly decent chap,
who had standards which governed his Iong and energetic life. He was a"doer" and a "giver. "
He is remembered by many of his generation at Tettenhall college for his fine singing voice. A leading treble. He was very loyal to his old school, and was appointed President of the Old Tettenhallian Club.
This won universal approval because he had an authentic voice which expressed the true spirit of his old school."
