Colin Jones
03/10/2023
I am sad to report the passing of Colin Jones, brother of OT Alan, father of OT Michael and uncle of our Committee Chairman Jeremy.
Colin was born in July 1934 and he was at the College from 1945 to 1950. Colin's father had established Castlecroft Service Station in Finchfield, Wolverhampton back in the 1920s and after a short time working there he and brother Alan started their National Service in 1955 spending 18 months in Hong Kong in charge of the British Forces maintenance workshops. On returning home they resumed a long association in the family business.

A keen golfer for many years Colin was a long standing member of the OT Golf Society. He regularly attended OT social events with his wife Daphne, and I last saw him at our Reunion Garden Party in June on the Towers lawn. He will be much missed.

We send our condolences to his widow Daphne, son Michael, brother Alan and nephew Jeremy.

We also heard recently of the passing of Bill Evans. He was at TC from 1945 to 1950.
In recent years Bill lived in Bridgnorth. We believe that some time ago he was publican along with his wife Dinah at the Lion O'Morfe, Upper Farmcote near Claverley for quite a few years.
He attended many OT events, and the attached photo was taken at our Remembrance Service in 2016.
Our condolences to his family and friends.

John Farquharson

Thanks to Jan Taylor for letting us know about John's passing. Our deepest sympathies go out to John's family and friends. The following is taken from the post Jan put on the OT's Facebook page.

About 3 weeks ago one of our TC family passed away from Cancer, an illness which he had been fighting for over 3 years. John Farquharson, a young farmer (39 yrs) was at TC 90’s/2000’s period in lower and upper school.
He was a small petite young fellow with the most abundance of energy, talent, kindness and sincerity. I had the great honour of teaching him Physical Education and he was a member of one of my forms. Those that knew him, will probably remember his allergies and he carried a little satchel with his medicines in. For me he was one of my son’s close friends at TC and an outstanding athlete in Cross country and Sprinting. His speed was breathtakingly fast and he represented TC on many occasions. He was encouraging, a fighter and he always brought the baton home in the last leg of the relay with a smile wearing our famous, undeniably spectacular running vest, back in the day. I am encouraging,if at all possible, for anyone who remembers John to join his family and his extended TC family at his funeral on Tuesday 20th June 10.45 am Trysull Church. This would give the family much comfort in this torrid of times for them. He was well known in the Young Farmers community and just loved tractors. He was, and still is a true TC legend. Cups and trophies bear his name. A most lovely person.
