Pure Gold!
Tuesday 21 June 2022
Congratulations to Lawson Billingsley who recently went to the Palace to receive his Award. Lawson left TC in July 2020 and is currently reading History & International Relations at De Montfort University after receiving 3 unconditional & 2 conditional university offers (something Gold DofE supported - it sets you apart from the crowd). From LawsonAfter successfully completing Bronze, Silver & Gold & waiting for my delayed presentation due to covid, I finally attended Buckingham Palace on Fri 20th May. It was a superb day, Prince Edward was the Royal Family Member & there were several guest speakers too who talked about what a difference achieving Gold had made to their life & careers. For anyone thinking of commiting to the DofE programme, my advice would be absolutely go for it! I am not going to say its easy (Gold particularly I wanted to give up more than once!!!) but with my parents & schools encouragement I stuck at it & nailed it. That sense of self belief & achievement remains with me today & I am immensely proud to have been the only person from my cohort at Tettenhall College to have achieved it. To give this some context only approx 9% of those that start the DofE programme in the UK actually continue to attain the pinnacle of Gold! I am massively proud to be part of that 9%.
