Travels overseas from overseas
Tuesday 16 August 2022
I recently heard from the lovely Claude Wong about his recent three month adventure and he very kindly sent me some details and photographs. See below.

Anyway below is a short description with photo attachment on my journey to West Sumatera on board a ketch - Always Saturday from March to May 2022:-

YAAHOWU – greetings in Nias, one of the many islands we visited during the West Sumatra Rally, Indonesia. The rally has been an epic journey for me, being one of the 3 crews on “Always Saturday” under skipper Rex. We travelled over 3,000nm from Hong Kong across the South China Sea, passed the Strait of Malacca, visited islands along the coast of Western Sumatra in the Indian Ocean, through the Sunda Strait and witnessed Krakatoa’s eruption, enjoyed the natural beauty at Belitung and Thousand Islands before finally stopping at Jakarta. It is adventure like this that inspires me in taking up sailing and to explore the world by boat! Next on the agenda, re-joining Always Saturday and sail from South Africa to Florida!

I hope to be able to finally meet Clsude next year when he hopes to return to Tettenhall for some of the 160th celebrations.
